RHS School Gardening Award - Level 1 Achieved

At the Clifton Centre and our satellite centres we are committed to promoting the use of outside space to develop learner knowledge of gardening, food miles, carbon footprint and sustainability.

Learners have identified and planned outside spaces to grow food/herbs to be used in the school kitchens, plants to attract bees and butterflies, to make the external spaces more appealing and provide a sensory experience.
As part of the curriculum learners will be developing knowledge, skills and understanding of germination and the growing process, food miles and the carbon footprint.

Our next steps are

  • Developing and using basic skills safely e.g. preparing soil, sowing, planting or watering.
  • Develop  the external area which may include containers and pots.
  • Planting and growing vegetables, herbs and flowers.

We will now be working towards Level 2. Well Done !
